Ladakh Police Formation Cum Flag Unveiling Ceremony - Click Here

Leh 11 Aug: Completing the formation of Ladakh Police, the flag, formation sign and epaulettes of Ladakh Police was today unveiled by the Hon'ble LG, UT Ladakh R.K .Mathur in presence of the Chairman/CEC LAHDC Leh Gyal P Wangyal, MP Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Advisor UT Ladakh Umang Narula-IAS and Police Chief of Ladakh Satish Khandare-IPS and DIG Leh-Kargil Range B.S Tuti-IPS.

The flag has the national emblem and floral cover of juniper leaves which is considered auspicious in Ladakh. Laden in police colours of red and blue, the flag has been given a traditional design on the corners to make it culturally distinct. The formation sign with red background signifies sacrifice while the snow leopard shows endurance and strength, despite the hard terrain and harsh weather conditions. With the slogan of ‘Service and Courage’, the epaulettes with the badge/logo of Ladakh Police and other accessories were also unveiled by the Hon'ble LG on the occasion.
"Congratulating Ladakh Police for attaining its new identity, the Honorable LG R.K Mathur stated that one of the major objectives of forming a Union Territory is to bring the Administration closer to the people and provide better service. “I firmly believe that the capabilities of Ladakh Police will further enhance under UT Ladakh,” he said. LG stressed that the foremost element for a Police Department is trained manpower.  LG Mathur said that training must receive high priority"

Further, LG Mathur informed that the UT Administration aims at incorporating all important works – Disaster Management, Fire Service, Civil Defence, Forensic Science and Cyber Crime of National Level expertise to be able to assist the people of Ladakh efficiently. 
 LG Mathur also stressed on the importance of an efficient communication system and that efforts are being made to introduce the nation-wide Police Helpline Number 112 Service in Ladakh for which, all required technologies will be procured. 

Suggesting that the Department must conduct outreach programs so as to connect better with the general public, LG Mathur ideated organizing a yearly Police rally. He also suggested that the Police Raising Day can be celebrated on 31st October instead of 11th August.     

Inspector General of Police UT Ladakh, Satish Khandare on this historic moment while welcoming the Hon'ble LG and other dignitaries said that after the creation of Ladakh Police, a full-fledged Police Headquarters has started functioning and is striving hard to achieve many milestones. Creation of new independent Police Wings, infrastructural development process in tandem with the local conditions, transfer of Ladakh Domicile police personnel to Ladakh, welfare and training activities has been some great achievements of the newly formed Ladakh Police. Moreover, to be well connected with the inaccessible areas, Village Wireless Network System will go a long way. To cater the tourists and give them the best of services for their safety and security, Tourist Police with Tourist Facilitation Centers will not only give a sense of safety and security to the tourists but also give the region a proactive and responsive policing. Futher, upcoming CCTV projects will give a feeling of safety among the local populace. Satish Khandare assured that Ladakh Police will not leave any stone unturned to make the police friendlier, more technology based and more professional to serve the public in varied forms and situations.

Later, as a token of gratitude, mementoes were presented to the Hon'ble LG and other dignitaries by the Inspector General of Police.
Rajeev Pandey-IPS Senior Superintendent of Police Leh,concluding the function , thanked the dignitaries and the guests for making this moment more historic and encouraging all the personal of Ladakh Police.
