Three big companies came forward to build the Zojila Tunnel connecting Kashmir to Ladakh. After the construction of the Zojila Tunnel connecting Kashmir with Ladakh, the path of 3 hours will be reduced to 15-30 minutes.
According to sources, the National Highway Authority under the Ministry of Road Transport has received bids from 3 big companies to build the Zojila Tunnel. Railway PSU IRCON (IRCON) along with two big companies L&T and Medha Engineering Infra Limited (Medha Engineering & Infra Ltd.) associated with the Infra sector have been involved in the NHAI bidding process to build the Zojila Tunnel.
The Zojila Tunnel project of about Rs 4400 crore is very important to connect Ladakh with Kashmir. According to NHAI source, a project will be awarded to one company this month and it is targeted to be completed in 6 years. Actually, an attempt was made earlier to make and complete this project.
